Turkey’s first-ever ambassador to Eritrea, HE Firat Sunel, bid farewell to Asmara on Thursday night, completing his three years successful tour of duty.

Ambassador Firat Sunel played a significant role in cultivating bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between Turkey and Eritrea.

In a farewell reception organized by the Foreign Ministry at the Hotel Asmara Palace on November 1st, Ambassador Sunel expressed how hard it is for him to leave Eritrea.

He expressed pride and appreciation for the care extended to him from all government officials while carrying out his duty.

Foreign minister Osman Saleh on his part thanked the ambassador for the efforts he exerted to enhance the existing bilateral relations in all fields between the two countries.

Ambassador Sunel earned respect and popularity among Eritreans shortly after his arrival on 1st November 2013.

Eritreans are grateful to him, among many things, for his tremendous effort in the launching of Turkish Airlines regular flights to and from Asmara, for the first time.

We wish Ambassador Firat Sunel good health and success on his endeavor.
