Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is hosting a delegation from the Government of Eritrea. The delegation is in the country to identify areas of collaboration between JKUAT and Eritrean Institutes of Higher Education.
The National Board for Higher Education (NBHE) Executive Director, Dr. Tadasse Mehari who is leading the Eritrean delegation, said his country is eager to start the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with JKUAT whereby 18 Eritrean students have already joined the institution for postgraduate and doctorate programmes. The Executive Board of the UNDP has approved the new Eritrea Country Program following the signing of a new Strategic Partnership Cooperation Framework (SPCF) 2013-2016 with the Government of Eritrea on January 28, 2013.
This new cooperation framework, which was prepared through a consultative process between the Government of the State of Eritrea and United Nations System, will have five strategic area focuses: Capacity development, Social protection, Energy and environment, Gender and Food Security.
