By TesfaNews,
ERITREAN rider Daniel Teklehaimanot today re-writes the history of cycling at the Tour de France once and for all. From being the first black African to compete at the Tour to the first African to wear a jersey as he takes the King of the Mountain title at the Stage 6.
Tonight he made an awesome piece of history and make his country Eritrea, his team MTN-Qhubeka and his continent Africa very proud. This victory is straight into the history book.
Teklehaimanot, who won the polka dot jersey at the Criterium du Dauphine, has also made history at the Tour as the first rider from Eritrea to compete in the three-week race when he launched the opening time trial off in the streets of Utrecht last weekend.
Its was a dream come true moment for him. This is what he has said after winning the King of the mountains title at Dauphine:
“When I was young and watching the Tour de France, I was always more excited by the fight for polka dot jersey than the yellow…One day with this jersey at the Tour would be enough for me. It won’t be easy but I’m prepared to work hard.“
#TdF2015 @DanielTeklehai1 gets it!!! Polka Dot Jersey tonight!!!
