“Those who love peace must learn to organize as effective as those who love war” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
By CECCO,
IT HAS now been 13 years since the Eritrea Ethiopia Boundary Commission (EEBC) delivered its verdict in the border dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia.
On the anniversary of the verdict, Coalition of Eritrean Canadian Communities and Organizations (CECCO) would like to remind the international community of its obligation to uphold international law and promote regional stability in the Horn of Africa.
CECCO calls on the international community to compel Ethiopia to immediately end its illegal occupation of sovereign Eritrean territories and the withdrawal of its armed forces from those territories.
CECCO calls on the international community to lift UN Security Council Resolution 1907(2009) and 2023(2011). The non-implementation of the EEBC decision and sanctions on Eritrea constitute a serious threat to Eritrea’s independence, freedom and human rights. Lifting of sanctions against Eritrea will lay the ground for true confidence building measures that will open the path for normalization of relations between Eritrea and Ethiopia, which will result in peace, stability and security in the Horn of Africa.
