President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza, Special Envoy of Egypt’s Acting President, Mr. Adly Mansour, and Vice Foreign Minister of the country.
In the course of the meeting, Presidet Isaias expressed the Eritrean government’s conviction that Egyptian people would overcome the current challenge, and that the country would not only achieve internal stability and prosperity but also play its due role in promoting the stability of the Horn region, as well as the Red Sea and the Nile Littoral States.
Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza on his part briefed President Isaias on the steps taken by the Government and people of Egypt during the transition period, in addition to the on-going referendum process, ratification of a Constitution and the elections to be conducted on the basis of it.
He further gave detailed explanation to the President pertaining to the journey of the Egyptian people and its institutions leading to a stage of peace and stability in line with the charted road map thereof.

Deputy Foreign Minister Heads to Asmara

Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs and Special Envoy of Egypt’s Acting President, Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza, headed on Wednesday January 15 to the Eritrean capital Asmara to meet with the Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki and the Eritrean Foreign Minister.
The Official Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry stated that this visit comes within the framework of the distinguished bilateral relations between the governments and peoples of Egypt and sister state Eritrea, bilateral coordination and consultation with regard to regional relations and the situation in the Horn of Africa, as well as the means of strengthening bilateral relations, as Eritrea is one of the Nile Basin countries to which the Egyptian foreign policy dedicates special attention.
The spokesman added that Loza and the accompanying delegation will hold consultations with the Eritrean Foreign Minister on issues of mutual interest, topped by regional security, Red Sea security, and the situation in Somalia, further to the Nile River issues.

Sudan’s Bashir to Visit Eritrea Thursday

Sudanese President Omer al Bashir is due to begin on Thursday a three day official visit to Eritrea at an invitation from his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki.
The two leaders will discuss a number of issues of common interest between the two countries.
Al-Bashir will be accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation including Minister of Presidency Salah Wansi, Foreign Minister Ali Karti and intelligence chief Gen. Mohamed Atta Al-Mawla Abbas.

President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir here on official working visit

(Asmara, 16 January 2014) – President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir of the Republic of Sudan today arrived in Asmara on official working visit.
On arrival at Asmara International Airport, he was accorded warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki and Senior government officials accompanied by salute of the Guard of Honor and national anthems of both countries.
Later on, the two leaders conducted first round talks at the State House.
In the course of the meeting, both sides exchanged views on ways and means of upgrading the prevailing historic and people-based bilateral relations, as well as the implementation of previously concluded agreements. Moreover, they discussed new areas of partnership, regional developments and issues of interest to both countries.
