Formal credentials ceremony for newly appointed ambassador of Eritrea to Cuba

Eritrea’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Girma Asmerom, presented credentials to Vice President Gladys Maria Bejerano Portela as Eritrea’s non-resident Ambassador to Cuba.

During the ceremony, Vice President Portela asserted that Eritrea-Cuban relations has been steadily growing. She further expressed her country’s readiness to enhance existing ties of partnership with Eritrea in the Health and Agriculture sectors. 

Ambassador Girma on his part conveyed the GOE’s appreciation to the people and Government of Cuba for their invaluable support and underlined Eritrea’s readiness to expand and consolidate further the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Vice President Portela and Ambassador Girma also discussed current realities and trends in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea region as well as in Latin American and the Caribbean.

Following the ceremony, Ambassador Girma laid a wreath at the Cuban Patriots Cemetery.
