Somalia and Eritrea national teams have arrived in Nairobi ahead of this year’s Senior Challenge Cup.

According to the draws conducted in Nairobi on Friday morning, Eritrea placed in Group C alongside Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda.

Somalia coach Mohammed Abdulle said he hopes to help the team qualify for the second round of the tournament.

The coach also wants to reduce the high number of goals his side always concedes in the regional competition.

“We have never missed participation in the last 50 years and we hope this year, we can have better results in Kenya. We are looking at perhaps a second round finish,”

“We cannot pretend that it will be easy. Our opponents are quite formidable. Tanzania for example beat us 7-0 last year while Burundi hammered us 5-0.

“Zambia who are also in the same pool with us won the Africa Cup of  Nations finals two years ago and are the favorites to win the tournament this year,” he told Goal.com.

The East and Central African regional tournament takes place from 27 November-December 12.

According to Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, all the preliminary matches will be played in Nairobi and Machakos.

Group A: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, South Sudan
Group B: Tanzania, Zambia, Burundi, Somalia
Group C: Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, Eritrea
