ERITREAN delegation, headed by Ambassaor Girma Asmerom, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, participated at the 17th Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) that was held in Algiers from 26-30 May 2014.

At the conference that was conducted under the theme “Enhancing Solidarity for Peace and Development”, Ambassador Girma delivered a statement as part of the discussions of the regional groups.

The NAM is a movement of 115 members representing the interests and priorities of developing countries from Africa and Asia. Since its inception the NAM has attempted to create an independent path in world politics that would not result in Member States becoming pawns in the struggles between the major powers.
