The trip marks the first-ever Eritrean gov’t delegation visit to Somaliland

Senior Eritrean delegation comprising Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab are on a working visit to Somaliland.
The delegation met and held talks with President Muse Bihi Abdi who expressed appreciation for the initiative Eritrea took. The President also briefed the delegation on the objective situation in the Somaliland and its stance on various issues.
The objective of the visit of the Eritrean delegation is to begin engagement with Somaliland as part of the promotion of regional peace.
During its stay in Somaliland the Eritrean delegation will meet various officials on strengthening bilateral relations.
In a twitter message, President of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi said,
“Met with the FM of Eritrea Hon. Osman Saleh. We discussed issues pertaining the bilateral relations between the two nations, regional economic integration, security and the political dynamics in the Horn of Africa. Agreed the two nations share common history and brotherly bond.”

The objective of this first-ever Eritrean Government delegation visit to Hargeisa is to begin engagement with Somaliland & to buttress the quest for the promotion of regional peace. The delegation will have numerous meetings with a wide range of actors during the three-day visit.
