PRESIDENT Isaias Afwerki has arrived in Egypt today to partake in the inauguration of president-elect Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Government spokesman said President Afwerki’s participation on Sunday is to underline the importance of strong Egypt domestically and regionally.
Several heads of state, ministers and diplomats start arriving in Egypt as the country prepares for the Field Marshal’s swearing in.
Many countries were invited to attend the inauguration, yet others were not for their perceived hostile attitude towards Egypt, including Qatar and Turkey, according to an Egyptian newspaper The Cairo Post. Israel was also not invited either, according to Sky News.
Despite the souring of relation with Ethiopia, Ethiopian Foreign Minister arrives in Cairo accepting the invitation.
Al-Sisi will swear in in front of members of the General Assembly of the Supreme Constitutional Court and a number of public figures and diplomatic delegations.
Al-Sisi was announced president last week, after winning 96.9% of valid votes
