MEKSEB Debesay will start next Monday the 10th edition of the Tropical Amissa Bongo in the shoes of an outsider.

The Eritrean who was elected African Cyclist of the Year 2014 by a jury of experts chaired by Bernard Hinault at the initiative of the organizers of the Gabonese test, has gained new notoriety in African squads.

Present in the national team that just won Monday brilliantly facing South Africa, the title race against the Team Time Trial at Continental Championships in South Africa, alongside Daniel Teklehaymanot, Natnael Berhane and Merhawi Kudus who dream this year of a selection within MTN-Qhubeka for the Tour de France, it has taken a new step in its progression.

Mekseb Debesay have a heavy role and responsibilities in Gabon as the leader of the German team in third world division Bike Aid.

The winner of the final classification of the UCI Africa Tour 2014 will also have to heart to prove to European professionals that it has its place among the best.

At 23, the rider at ease on any terrain, fearless and intends to prove it all next week on the roads of Tropical since he had run in 2013 following the best up the last stage where he had to give up in the streets of Libreville after a bad fall.

It is, therefore, in Gabon two years later with a vengeance, but also with the hope that a good performance in the image of that of another Eritrean Natnael Berhane, final winner in 2014, could propel even higher in the hierarchy of African cycling.
