ERITREA’s Permanent Representative to the United Nation, H.E. Ambassador Girma Asmerom, stated that as Eritrea is fully committed to the human rights values and principles, its right to development must be respected.

He made the said remark during a statement he delivered today at the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on agenda item 63: “Report of the Human Rights Council“.

He also said that it is his country’s belief that the Human Rights Council will follow a clear procedure that will safeguard it from certain politically motivated resolutions that are being railroaded under the pretext of human rights violations, in particular when it is done at the last minute while the country is going through the UPR process.
