The Eritrean Government through its Embassy in Rome today announced that for the first time in its week-long diplomatic upheaval, it has finally secured a positive response from Italian authorities regarding the possibility of returning the remains of all Eritrean victims of the October 3rd tragedy in Lampedusa back to Eritrea for proper burial.
The Italian government, however, underlined that the process of returning the bodies might take more time as it requires to pass through a series of proper identification stages, if necessary using DNA testing, to further ascertain identities of some unclaimed and unrecognized bodies.
Eritrea on its part pointed out that the delay witnessed in the process has caused deep worry on the part of family members of the victims and urged Italian authorities to repatriate the already identified corpses to their native land.
The statement also re-affirms Eritrea’s readiness to assist the families of the victims from covering transportation expenses to arranging the burial ceremony for their loved ones in accordance to their culture and tradition.

ኣምባሳደር ዘመደ ተኽለ ግን፡ እቲ ናይ ምልላይ ስራሕ ምስተጻፈፈ፡ መንግስቲ ኤርትራ ነቶም ሬሳታት ተቐቢሉ ንቤተሰቦም ከረክብ ወግዓዊ መረጋገጺ ከምዝተዋህቦም ሓቢሩ።
ብተወሳኺ፡ ዛጊድ ብሰበስልጣን ኢጣልያ ዝተቐብረ ሬሳ ከምዘየለ፡ እቲ ሬሳታ ንመጽንሒ ተባሂሉ ኣብ ዝተዳለወ ፍሉይ ቦታ ተቐሚጡ ከምዘሎ`ውን ካብ ሰበስልጣን ጣልያን መረጋገጺ ከምዝተዋህቦም ኣምባሳደር ዘመደ ንቪኦኤ ሓቢሩ`ሎ።
