By Atletiek,

THE well-organized 44th edition of the Golden Spike in Leiden was the year not having the moderate weather: windy and cold.

All running events longer than 200 meters were therefore disadvantaged, much headwind on the first straight and little wind on the final straight of the oval track.

The Topmeeting Lotto Baancircuit nevertheless scored with appealing performance. Erik Cadée came with the disc a step closer to the World Cup limit.

Abrar Osman Adem was the fastest in the 10,000 meters at 27.41.69, the world’s 16th time of the season and therefore the best performance of the day.

The current price, the coveted Golden Spike went to the Eritrean Abrar Osman Adem, which by far was the best in the 10,000 meters.
