THE Battle of Massawa took place in February 1990 in and around the coastal city of Massawa. The offensive known to us “Fenkel Operation” was conducted in coordination from land and sea by the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF). Port city of Massawa was finally freed.
While the city is preparing itself to celebrate its Silver Jubilee, we ask, what does Massawa look like 25 years after that devastating war? What are its most significant development projects that the government accomplished in the past 25 years? The following short video gives a glimpse of today’s Massawa.
