The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China held a colorful event to officially inaugurate the newly built embassy in Asmara and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-Eritrea diplomatic relations.

The event was attended by Ministers, PFDJ officials and members of the diplomatic corps.



Ambassador Yang Zigang delivered a keynote speech and commended the good relations between the two countries.

He noted that remarkable progress was achieved in bilateral cooperation programs that span extensive sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, mining, trade and investment, education as well as health care.

Ambassador Yang further stated there will be an increased bilateral collaboration between China and Eritrea through greater engagement in platforms such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) that will be held in Beijing in September this year.

The Belt and Road Initiative is also expected to increase world connectivity and promote trade, investment, and economic development.

Eritrea is among the countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, for his part, commended the solid cooperation that has been cultivated over the past two decades between the two countries in a broad array of sectors.
