AMBASSADOR Araya Desta today presented his letters of credence to Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) as the new Permanent Representative of the State of Eritrea to the African Union and UNECA.
In the ceremony that also accommodates the accredition of an Ambassador from Swaziland and a Permanent Representative from Kenya, Ambassador Araya informed the AUC Chairperson of his country’s readiness to work with the African Union to enhance the development of the continent in the different socio-economic and political sectors.
Ambassador Araya during his briefing said that Eritrea is doing well with its economy and making great strides in areas such as education and Millennium Development Goals. He said though there were some challenges, progress is being made in his country.
He also assured Dr. Dlamini Zuma of the full cooperation of his country Eritrea to the common agenda of a prosperous, peaceful and strong Africa.
Dr. Dlamini Zuma congratulated both Ambassadors and Permanent Representative for their new appointment and promised her support to help them achieve their mission in the interest of their respective populations and of the continent.
