Eritrea’s GEDEM cement plant project is the national strategic project of the state of Eritrea, which expected to play a significant role in promoting Eritrea’s national economic development.

Under the leadership, guidance and support of Chinese foreign Ministry, Ministry of Commerce, the Export-Import Bank of China, the Chinese Embassy in Eritrea, and the Commercial Counselor, on October 19, the company and the Eritrean Ministry of National Development signed a contract in Beijing to undertake the project oc CLINKER CEMENT plant in Gedem which will produce 1,000 Tons cements daily for Eritrea.

The fund of the project is the preferential loans financed by the Chinese government.

As the EPC general contractor, the company will newly build one Clinker cement plant with 1,000 tons/day or (10,000 quintals of cement per day) productivity and related subsidiary ancillary facilities (such as water, electricity, road) in Gedem region near the Eritrean port city of Massawa.

The scops of the contract are as follows:

  • Investigation
  • Design
  • Equipment supply
  • Installation and civil engineering construction
  • Commissioning and performance appraisal
  • Personnel training

Construction period is 36 months and expected to be inaugurated on the new year of 2011.
