President Isaias Concludes Sudan Visit

ERITREAN President Isaias has concluded his three-day working visit to the Republic of Sudan and left for his country today.

In the course of his visit, the President held extensive discussions with President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir and other Sudanese government officials on ways and means of strengthening socio-economic ties, cooperation and partnership between the two peoples as well international developments of of mutual importance to both countries.

President Isaias also had discussions with the Chairman of the Sudanese National Assembly, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omar and with the First Vice President of the Republic of Sudan, Gen. Bekri Hassan Saleh, on related topics.

Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry, Dr. Obaidullah Mohammed Obaidullah, lauds the visit by President Isaias. In a press statement, he said that the visit to Sudan was mainly to congratulate the Field Marshal Omar al-Bashir President of the Republic, in person, on the occasion of his victory in the recent elections and for gaining the confidence of the people of Sudan in the new presidential term.

Dr. Obaidullah further indicates, the talks that took place between the Sudanese and Eritrean sides also focused on the importance of solidifying security in the region.

President Isaias was seen off at Khartoum International Airport by Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh.
