New Chinese and Qatari Ambassadors to Eritrea presenting their credence to President Afwerki

PRESIDENT Isaias Afwerki today received the credentials of the new Ambassadors of Qatar to Eritrea, Mr. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Humeidi, and Mr. Qiu Xuejun of the People’s Republic of China.

The ceremony took place at Denden Hall here in the capital.

In the ceremony, the President asserted Eritrea’s readiness to further enhance the existing close Eritrean-Qatari ties.  The Qatari Ambassador on his part explained that he would exert efforts to further expand and strengthen the prevailing relations between the two countries in all domains.

In the same vein, upon receiving the credentials of Ambassador Qiu Xuejun of the People’s Republic of China, President Isaias commended the impressive economic stride that the PRC had registered and expressed conviction that such achievement lays firm groundwork for the Chinese government to make significant contribution as regards major regional and international issues.

Noting that Eritrean-Chinese relations lies on solid ground, as well as shared values and views, President Isaias said that bilateral ties has registered significant pace, and expressed conviction that it attain higher stage in the years ahead.

In remarks he made on the occasion, Ambassador Qiu Xuejun highly appraised the heroic struggle of the Eritrean people for liberation and national independence. He further noted that they are presently engaged in endeavors to develop a national economy based on social justice.

The Ambassador also told Erina following the presentation of credentials that he would exert persistent effort to further deepen and enhance Eritrean-Chinese relations.

(Asmara, December 16) – Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki on Tuesday received the credentials of HE Mohamed bin Rashid Al Humaidi as Qatar’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Eritrea.

The president welcomed the Qatari ambassador and touched on the distinguished ties between the governments and peoples of both countries, wishing the ambassador success in his new post.

HE the ambassador conveyed HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s greetings and wishes of health and well-being to the Eritrean president and HH’s further wishes of progress and prosperity for the Eritrean people.

President Afwerki entrusted the Qatari ambassador with his greetings to HH the Emir and his wishes of prosperity and progress for the Qatari people.

On December 16, 2014, Mr. Qiu Xuejun, the Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea, presented the Letter of Credence to President Isaias Afwerki. Present at the ceremony on the Eritrean side were Mr. Osman Salih, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Yemane Ghebremeskel, Director of Office of the President, and on the Chinese side Mr. He Zhigeng, Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Eritrea.

Ambassador Qiu Xuejun conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s cordial greetings to President Isaias. Ambassador Qiu said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the bilateral relations between the two countries have been developing healthily featured by gratifying achievements made in political, economic, cultural and other fields.

President Isaias asked Ambassador Qiu to convey his cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping. The President said that Eritrea-China bilateral relations have made substantial progress since the diplomatic ties established. The two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral areas. He hoped that both sides would continue to strengthen their exchanges and cooperation in various fields and bring the existing fine relationship to a new stage.

Ambassador Qiu Xuejun arrived in Eritrea on December 7th and presented the copy of his credentials to Mr. Osman Salih, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea on 9th. Ambassador Qiu gave an interview to the Eritrean media after the ceremony.
