THE Minister of Transport of Qatar, HH Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, held talks with the Director General of the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Paulos Kahsai in Doha on Tuesday (13).

The two reviewed relations between Qatar and Eritrea in the field of transport and communications and discussed ways of co-operation in air transport sector between the two countries.

The country’s flag carrier, Qatar Airways, introduced new flight destinations to the Eritrean capital of Asmara during the last quarter of 2014.

Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, Marwan Koleilat, recently expressed a strong optimism towards the new market to the horn of Africa and he commented that the service to Eritrea “opens doors to even stronger business ties and supports greater commercial development.”

Qatar and Eritrea enjoys excellent collaboration and share a long-standing relationship.

Before the end of last year, President Isaias Afwerki pays a three day state visit to Qatari and discuss means of enhancing existing bilateral relations with his counterpart HH the Emir Sheik Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani.

Soon after the visit, Qatar appoints Mr. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Humeidi as the new Ambassadors to Eritrea.
