Sudan and Eritrea have concluded an agreement on joint cooperation in the fields of minerals and related industries in the two countries, says Sudanese Minister of Minerals Kamal Abdul-Latif.
The agreement was reached at a meeting here this week between Sudanese President Omer Al Bashir, and his Eritrean counterpart, President Isiasi Afewerki.
The meeting, which was also attended by a number of ministers of both sides, reviewed ways of enhancing the cooperation in the mining sector between Sudan and Eritrea.
The two sides agreed on reactivation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed last year between the Mining Ministries of the two countries and cooperation between them in the exchange of experiences and training to achieve more revenues from the mining sector for both countries.

President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir, and the Eritrean President, Issias Afewerki, Monday discussed in Port-Sudan, in the presence of the Ministers of Tourism of the two countries, ways for boosting tourism between the two countries.
The Minister of Tourism, Engineer Mohamed Abdul-Karim Al Hud, said in a press statement following the meeting that the talks were focused on the importance support to tourism in Sudan and Eritrea, adding that the meeting agreed on the cooperation between the two countries in different fields, including agreements on air transport, establishment of more roads to link between the two countries and the completion of the road that links the Red Sea State with Eritrea, in addition to the exchange of experiences and training in the field of tourism.

(Asmara, 26 November 2013) – President Isaias Afwerki and Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Beshir, President of the Republic of Sudan, held talks on bilateral issues on 25 November at the port city of Port Sudan.
During their meeting, the two leaders agreed to reinforce the existing mutual cooperation and strengthen mutual development and economic projects, particularly in the transportation, tourism, marine resources and mining sectors.
They also agreed on exchanging visits and consultations on both sides so as to strengthen the existing relationship.
In another development, President Isaias met with Sudanese investors and members of the business community, during which he gave extensive briefings as regards the different investment opportunities in Eritrea. He further invited them to come to Eritrea in person and see the opportunities first hand.
The Sudanese investors and members of the business community appreciated the briefings they received and expressed willingness to participate in such ventures.
Likewise, President Isaias accompanied by President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir visited the exhibition organized by the University of Sudanese Red Sea region depicting the customs and traditions of the Sudanese people in general and that of the Red Sea region in particular.

Afwerki Pledges Privileges and Special Incentives for Sudanese Investments in Eritrea

The Eritrean President, Isaias Afwerki announced today that Eritrea will give special privileges and incentives to Sudanese investments in Eritrea asserting that the door is widely open for the Sudanese private sector to invest in Eritrea in different fields, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, industry and services.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Sudanese Businessmen Union, Saoud Mamoun Al-Berair, indicated that the Eritrean President reviewed during his meeting with union’s delegation, which is participating at the seventh Tourism and Marketing Festival in the Red Sea State, the investment opportunities that are available in Eritrea for the Sudanese private sector.
He referred to the agreement reached on formation of a joint committee between the two parties which includes the Sudanese Businessmen Union , representatives of the Eritrean government and the private sector to implement joint projects for the benefit of the economies and peoples of the two countries.
Al-Berair referred to the invitation provided by President Afwerki to a delegation of the Sudanese buisnessmen to visit Eritrea .
