Addressing the General Assembly yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea, H.E. Osman Saleh, focused on bolstering his country’s socioeconomic and also emphasized the need to revitalize the United Nations to create a more agile, democratic and equitable multilateral system.

Eritrea Calls for Lifting of UN Sanctions

The Eritrea government has once again stepped up the push for lifting of United Nations sanctions imposed on to the nation since 2009.

At the ongoing UN General Assembly meeting in New York, the Eritrean minister of foreign affairs, H.E. Osman Saleh, said the sanctions were politically-motivated, unjust and would have negative implications on the socio-economic welfare of the population.

UNSG Ban Ki-Moon Applaud Eritrea’s Constructive Role in the Region

Eritrea and the UN agreed to expand cooperation

Eritrean Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Osman Saleh met with the United Nations Secretary General H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, on 21 September 2015 in New York.

In this meeting both parties held extensive discussions on international and regional peace and security, migration and human trafficking and other relevant issues of mutual concern.

Minister Osman elaborated Eritrea’s perspective on the issue of regional and international peace and security and reiterated the commitment of the Eritrean government to work with the UN and other concerned countries in addressing the threat of global terrorism and extremism.
