African Cycling Giants Eritrea dominated Saturday’s junior and women road races to extend their medal triumphant at the ongoing 13th African Continental Road Championship.
The 13th Africa’s biggest annual cycling event got underway since Wednesday and will run through to February 18 in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali.

Eritrean rider Meron Teshome have won his second Gold medal yesterday in elite men Individual Time Trial (ITT) at the ongoing African Continental Championship 2017 in Luxor, Egypt clocking a time of 53:16, which is 26 seconds faster than South Africa’s Stefan De Bod who finished second. Thanks to an illegal maneuver, Tsigabu Grmay of Ethiopia got on to the podium
AFRICAN Continental Individual Time Trial (ITT) Championship concluded earlier today with Eritrean Daniel Teklehaimanot unusually finishing in second place for the Silver medal behind Tsgabu Grmay of Ethiopia while Merhawi Kudus, who had competed in both the Elite and U23 ITT, had won Gold in the U23 ITT while finishing 5th in the Elites.
The ITT Championship Gold medal, that Daniel had successfully defended for 4 years in a row since 2010, has slipped through his finger this time.

Eritrean Merhawi Kudus after winning his second Gold medal for the African Championship
ERITREAN rider Merhawi Kudus from team MTN-Qhubeka today won the under 23 Individual Time Trial race of the Confederation of African Cycling Road Championships.
Merhawi posted the fastest time of the day before sweeping his second Gold medal in the championship. Rwandan Valens Ndayisenga and Adil Barbari of Algeria took their respective silver and bronze medal.
