Layne Tadesse – The Unstoppable Warrior

Eritrean Reggae artist Layne Tadesse  also known as L.T., is gearing up to release his first live EP entitled “Victory to the Masses” with his band 7 Seal Dub. The single from his release entitled “Awet N’Hafash”, which means “Victory to the Masses,” is a powerful song about Layne’s homeland, Eritrea, 30 year war with the Ethiopian Communist Regime.

AS I was leaving the DC Festival Grounds, I stopped in one of the tents to explore new products. Standing inside the tent was Layne Tadesse and asked, if I have his new CD? I said no, bought the CD and listened to it on the long drive-back from the festival-grounds in Maryland to my residence in Virginia. I had no expectation or awareness of Layne’s music except what I saw on YouTube during Sawa Festival few years back. However, I was hungry to listen to some good music. A new Reggae style album called “Awet N’Hafash” has been released by Eritrean rapper Layne Tadesse and his band 7-Seal-Dub

AS WE are nearing May 24th to celebrate 23rd anniversary of independent Eritrea, our feelings of nationalism becomes stronger and we all go back to memory lane and appreciate the struggles that took place for this important victory of independence that happened on that memorable day.

Last weekend after finding out the long awaited album by Layne Tadesse has been released and can be purchased at the ECCC and online, I made it my business to go get one. I have always been fascinated by the sounds of Layne as his vocals have been and are a vital component of his touring band as well as his past albums.
