Eritrea’s Historic Day at Tour de France

Daniel Teklehaimanot and Merhawi Kudus will be remembered in history as the FIRST Eritreans as well as black Africans to compete at the Tour de France. It is HISTORIC because there will be no more FIRST for black Africans in the Tour anymore as it is already written in the history book by these two Eritreans. That way, Eritrea won the Tour already.

ERITREA’S commissioner of culture and sports on Saturday hailed the historic participation of two riders from his country in the Tour de France.

Natnael and Mekseb Among 5 Finalists for the African Cycling of the Year Award

Africa’s household name Natnael Berhane and rising super star Mekseb Debesay are among the five finalists to be named the 2014 African Cyclist of the Year

THE organisers of this year’s African Cyclist of the Year award have identified the five finalists that includes two Eritrean riders.

The jury that was chaired by Bernard Hinault, the five times winner of the Tour de France, have revealed their names today.

NATNAEL Berhane (Europcar) wins the 2014 Eritrean National Individual Time Trial (ITT) Championship ahead of Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN-Qhubeka) on Saturday. Mekseb Debesay finished 3rd.

The Europcar rider returned home to Eritrea after the Tour de Romandie to prepare for the Eritrean National Championships and is expected in France next week to be on the starting line for the Criterium du Dauphine race.

Set to race with the pros in the Tour de l’Avenir

After Daniel Teklehaimanot and Natnael Berhane, the World Cycling Centre is preparing to send another young Eritrean, Merhawi Kudus, into orbit this year.

Teklehaimanot and Berhane have now turned professional, riding for Orica-GreenEdge and Team Europcar respectively, while their fellow countryman will be wearing the Bretagne-Séché jersey in the Tour de l’Ain, which runs from Friday to Tuesday.

Russom Makes American Debut in the Tour of Elk Grove

Meron Russom to play a support role at the Tour of Elk Grove, U.S.A
