On August 19, 2011, under the shining sun of Africa, the plane carrying Prime Minister Erdoğan, his family and a large delegation composed of the different segments of Turkish State and society landed in Mogadishu. This was one of the first international flights destined for Somalia after a very long interval.

This flight turned the course of events in Somalia which had been in turmoil for so long with chronic instability and prolonged social strife creating, in turn, serious humanitarian crisis, coinciding with severe drought and famine.  Continue reading Turkey-Africa: Solidarity and Partnership

Eritrean – Canadians Commemorates the Lampedusa Shipwreck

We, the Eritrean-Canadian Communities and Organizations across Canada send our deepest condolences to families of all the victims and remember that as Eritreans we do not mourn as individuals but as a Community. We Will Always Remember. May the souls of our brothers and sisters rest in perfect peace!


THE Coalition of Eritrean Canadian Communities and Organizations (CECCO) commemorated the anniversary of the Lampedusa shipwreck in which hundreds of migrants lost their lives off the the coast of southern Italy. The sinking of the ship in Lampedusa shocked our tight-knit Eritrean community , Canadians of Eritrean descent mourned and reflected on the magnitude of this tragic loss of human life. Dear Compatriots inside the country and abroad
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me first express my warmest congratulations to the entire people of Eritrea and to our friends and partners on this auspicious occasion of the 23rd anniversary of our liberation and sovereignty.
