Ethiopia Rejects TPLF’s Call for Election in Tigray Region

“The board is the sole organ that decides the electoral calendar, electoral process or other related issues. Therefore Tigray regional state has no legal basis to decide to conduct the election.” – National Election Board (NEBE)

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia rejected a plan by the Tigray region to hold elections despite Tigrayan (TPLF) officials maintained they would go ahead with regional elections in August.

Health Minister, Dr. Liya Tadesse has announced that an additional 100 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in a single day to raise the number of confirmed cases in the country to 831.
