Eritrea: Higher Education Institutions Graduate 30,000 Students

Eritrea provides FREE education to its citizens in all levels of education

Congratulating our graduates for the fruits of their 16 – 17 years of hard work. Despite the challenges, the continued efforts on establishing and expanding quality institutions of higher learning in Eritrea started paying-off.

The Higher Education Institutions since their establishment in 2008 have graduated 29,772 in Masters, first degree and diploma including 256 in Medical Doctorate.

According to documents, the Eritrean Institute of Technology graduated 13,571, and Hamelmalo Agricultural College 4,840, College of Business and Economics 4,694, College of Science and Marine Technology 1,420, College of Arts and Social Science 1,476, Asmara College of Science and Health Technology 3515. Pete Gheresus (PhD), Kettering University Industrial Engineering faculty, concluded his fifth visit to the Eritrean Institute of Technology (EIT) by volunteering his time and donating thousands of books to their growing library in December 2015.

For three weeks, Gheresus delivered lectures to students, faculty and administrators at EIT while also giving educational talks and demonstrations to pre-college students in several villages and public libraries. Japan to fully fund Quality and Capacity building of three Eritrean Higher Education Institutes

Six students from Eritrea under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) sponsorship are scheduled to commence their doctorate studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology during the 2013-2014 academic year.

The scholars who will carry out their research in the areas of Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology Research, Horticulture, Chemistry and Statistics are already at the University to defend their proposals before getting their formal admissions. Eritrea Joins Global Partnership for Education (GPE)

Will Work with GPE to get all Eritrean Children into School and Learning

Eritrea welcomes enhanced collaboration and working relationship in achieving the Education for All Goals

Eritrea this week became the latest developing country partner to join the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

The country has worked with GPE’s partners to articulate its priorities for education between 2013 and 2017. These include a focus on getting out-of-school children into school, reducing class sizes and repetition and increasing learning achievements. The plan also places top priority on the expansion of educational opportunities for girls.
