Heroes of Eritrea

Without their sacrifice, Eritrea and Eritreans would not be standing tall today.

The law of sacrifice says that you cannot get something you want without giving up something in return. Eritrea’s martyrs believed Eritrea’s independence was of a higher value than life itself – their own lives. Facing death, their last words were always, “Awet N’Hafash” – Victory to the People. That’s why nothing in Eritrea can be taken for granted.

BY BEREKET KIDANE

Bob Marley once said, “Live for yourself and you will live in vain. Live for others and you will live again”. Eritrea’s martyrs did not live for themselves. They lived for us and for future generations of Eritreans. They gave up their lives so that we can proudly live as a sovereign people in a free nation. That is why they continue to live in us and will always remain vivid in our national memory. Continue reading Heroes of Eritrea

Wuch, Vaynac, Hanjema, Desu: Heroes that Capture the Eritrean Spirit

“A proud nation bids farewell to its beloved sons with a heavy heart. Each of their heroic histories of valor and sacrifice adds to Eritrea’s dignity as a nation, and pride to the people who they sought to serve.”HIDRI

Eritrean heroes picked Eritrea’s documents from the dust-bin of the UN archives, dusted-it-off and handed them back after rewriting the history anew.

By Amanuel Biedemariam,

ONE of the most remarkable achievements of Eritrea is that Eritrea stands as the only nation in Africa that gained independence on her own.

Eritrea won independence with grit, cunning-wit, determination, hard-work, blood, sweat and tears. Eritrea won independence by unprecedented-unparalleled human force determined to uproot foreign enslavement. Eritrea won independence by paying dear blood with the sacrifice of the beloved. Eritrea won with the belief that only Eritreans can ascertain complete victory and gain independence. Eritrea won by defeating all foreign forces.  Continue reading Wuch, Vaynac, Hanjema, Desu: Heroes that Capture the Eritrean Spirit
