LAST week the famous Eritrea movie “Debbas” was premiered at the Eritrean Community Civic Center (ECCC) in Washington, DC as a part of its current nationwide tour throughout the United States. Since I am familiar with MekonnedWoldeab’s prior film work, I was very anxious to see the movie. And what I saw was a great movie that is well-deserving of the Platinum Prize Award it received at the International Movie Festival in Houston.
At the 46th International Film Completion conducted on 20 April in Houston city, USA, the Eritrean film ‘Aklasia’ has been nominated the best foreign film and thus received Rami Award.
A total of 3 thousand films from different countries participated in the international competition and ‘Aklasia’ a film which raises social issues that was written and directed by Daniel Tesfamariam was among the 51 films to reach the final completion. Consequently it was nominated the best foreign film and thus awarded with Rami Award.
