President Isaias Congratulates Athlete Ghirmay

President Isaias Afwerki met and congratulated athlete Ghirmai Ghebreslasie in the morning hours Today for his victory at the 46th New York City Marathon.

President Isaias said that the people and the country are proud of the victory athlete Ghirmai registered and wished him more success in future competitions.

The Commissioner of Culture and Sports, Ambassador Zemede Tekle explained that more Eritrean athletes are emerging victorious and are keeping the momentum that has already been set. Eritrea’s Teenage Hero to Challenge Kenyan’s at London Marathon

Eritrea’s teenage who became the surprise world champion in Beijing last year, Ghirmay Ghebreslassie, will make his first appearance in the London marathon on April 24, 2016 alongside four compatriots.

The last two winners of the London Marathon, Kenyan Wilson Kipsang and Eliud Kipchoge, will be challenged to defend their previous titles by Eritrea’s teenage hero Ghirmay Ghebreslassie during this years Virgin Money London Marathon in April.

Asmara Welcomes Athletes Home from Beijing

Eritrean athletes were accorded heroes’ welcome on arrival today in Asmara following their shinning victory at the 15th Beijing Athletics World Championship conducted from 22 to 30 August.

Residents of Asmara and its environs turned out in thousands to give moving welcome to the victorious athletes. The welcoming ceremony took place from Asmara International Airport to Bahti-Meskerem Square. The parade included the Marching band, along with nationals lining on the pavements chanting and singing. Wrong Information on Eritrean Athletes Must be Corrected

The IAAF and CCTV-Africa needs to act fast and correct the mistake they honestly made on the bios of Eritrean athletes.

Men’s Marathon Winner Enjoys Beijing’s Sights & Sounds

After winning gold in the first event of the world championships — men’s marathon champion Ghirmay Ghebreslassie took time out from his busy schedule to spend the day taking in what the Chinese capital has to offer. CCTV reporter Mike Fox gave him a guided tour of one of the world’s most famous cities.
