Throughout history, there have been many devastating pandemics and disasters around the globe. While humanity has experienced great mortality through wars and pandemics, few things have
inflicted death and raised anxiety to the degree of HIV/AIDS. Beyond the various pandemics and complex conflicts, HIV/AIDS has disrupted and destroyed the lives of many. Eritrea’s Progress Combating HIV/AIDS

ACCORDING to UNAIDS, Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) remains the region most heavily affected by the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. Specifically, of the 35 million people living with HIV, approximately 25 million are living in SSA, and the region accounted for 74% of all the people dying from AIDS-related causes in 2013.

However, amidst these stark figures and though HIV/AIDS remains one of Africa’s most significant public health challenges, significant progress has been made. For example, prior to 2001, HIV/AIDS treatment in Africa was nearly nonexistent; yet, now some 86% of people in SSA living with HIV are receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART), and nearly 76% of them have achieved viral suppression. Sudan Relocates 2000 Ethiopian Refugees From El-Dabba to Contain an Outbreak

Sudanese towns have recently seen large influx of illegal Ethiopian migrants. Recent outbreak of communicable disease such as AIDS and Hepatitis C forced the El-Dabba locality to relocate thousands of Ethiopian migrants as examination results shows they are the most infected.

SUDANESE authorities and popular bodies have evacuated two thousands Ethiopian nationals from the locality of El-Dabba in the Northern state following discovery of several Hepatitis and AIDS cases among them.

The commissioner of El-Dabba locality, Isam Abdel-Rahman, told Sudan Tribune that the security committee in the state conducted a random medical examination for several foreigners, saying 6 of the 15 Ethiopian nationals who were examined tested positive for Hepatitis C. The Eritrean Population and Health Survey (EPHS) 2010, indicate that Eritrea has made remarkable progress in health-related Millennium Development Goals (MGD).
