UN Says One Million Ethiopians Displaced Due to Oromia-Somali Conflict

The humanitarian situation in Ethiopia has been further exacerbated by an upsurge in conflict around the border areas between Oromia and Somali regions

Around one million Ethiopians becomes Internally Displaced (IDPs) due to ethnic conflict along the Oromia-Somali regional border, since early September 2017. The country is failing.

A new report jointly released by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), the National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) and International Organization for Migration (IOM) indicated that close to one million people have been displaced due to the conflict along the borders of the Oromia and Ethiopian Somali regional states.
