Italian Prime Minister Conducts Official Visit to Asmara

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Giuseppe Conte arrived in Asmara in the afternoon hours of today, 12 October for a one-day official visit.

Upon arrival at the Asmara International Airport, Prime Minister Conte was accorded warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki and senior government officials accompanied by Marching Band playing the national anthem of the two countries. Without a doubt. I would add that I was elected in the world of emigration.

The vote of citizens living abroad, strongly wished for by former minister Mirko Tremaglia, was meant to be a recognition for expatriates, people he felt close to him. He was born in Asmara, talked about the beauty of this city and pride of its people. A bond he felt strongly and which he passed down to me. Senator Aldo Di Biagio: A Note to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs

Italy should follow suit of Germany, Switzerland, England, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Japan to re-set its relation with Eritrea

Consistent with what has been done in recent weeks, I have found it useful and appropriate to send a note to the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the recent visit of of senior Eritrean government delegation in Germany.

The purpose of the note was to highlight yet once a testament to the positively changed attitude of important components of the international community, in this regard Eritrea, which as it is well known, is perhaps the country’s most linked to by our historical and cultural links.
