The community of Eritreans living in Juba demonstrated yesterday after three of their men were killed in a brazen daylight robbery on Monday in the Hai Cinema neighborhood.

A large group of Eritrean nationals went out into the street leading from Juba Teaching Hospital where their countrymen were laid and marched to Airport Road, disrupting the flow of traffic in the area.

THE director of Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS), Mohamed Atta, has reiterated warning to South Sudan against supporting and funding Sudanese rebels particularly the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).

Last week, Atta, threatened to pursue rebel groups inside the South Sudanese territory, adding they have endured enough Juba support to the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) rebels. S. Sudanese Soldier Fires Shots at US Ambassador’s Motorcade

Relations between South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir and the US have deteriorated as Kiir has suspected Washington of supporting his rival in an 11-month civil war.

A SOUTH Sudanese soldier fired two bullets at close range into a US embassy vehicle travelling in a convoy carrying the top US official in the country, the American official said.

The US ambassador, Charles Twining, said he was travelling in an armoured diplomatic convoy at 7.30pm on 19 October when a soldier in a military motorcade fired twice at a US vehicle behind his.

Nova Airways Launches Flight to and from Asmara

Nova Airways’ Maiden Flight to Asmara

Nova Airways (O9), Sudan’s second largest carrier, began flights to Asmara today, ahead of Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways who have announced to make similar moves in the coming months.

Eritrean Minister of Tourism, Ms. Askalu Menkerios, inaugurated the launching of the direct flights to and from Asmara – Khartoum – Juba, as well as Kassala city.

Eritrea to Broker Talks between Sudan and SPLM-N Rebels

Sudan accuses South Sudan of arming rebels in the oil producing state of South Kordofan, which Juba denies

The Eritrean government has launched an initiative to bridge gaps between the Sudanese government and Sudan people’s Liberation Movement North (SPLM-N) in order to end the South Kordofan and Blue Nile conflict, a news report said.

According to Al-Sudani newspaper, Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki proposed to facilitate a negotiated settlement to the conflict that erupted in June last year when the Sudanese army asked the SPLM-N fighters to disarm before the implementation of a protocol related to the Two Areas.  Continue reading Eritrea to Broker Talks between Sudan and SPLM-N Rebels
