I would like to thank you, Mr. President, for giving my delegation the opportunity to address the Council. Allow me also to congratulate Senegal for assuming the Presidency of the Council for the month of November.
The UN Security Council has once again committed grave injustice against the people of Eritrea by extending the unjustified sanction.
The seven members of the UN Monitoring Group on Somalia and Eritrea today submitted the signed and final report on Eritrea to Rafael Darío Ramírez Carreño, the Chairperson of the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 751 (1992) and 1907 (2009) concerning Somalia and Eritrea.
One of the many baseless and false accusations fabricated to accuse Eritrea was that “weapons originating from Eritrea were found in with Somali warlords.” And the serial numbers of the weapons supposedly found in the hands of the warlords were presented to the monitoring group as evidence. “We have asked and confirmed that Russia previously sold the weapons to Eritrea,” the group had said.
Here we go again, on another eye boggling denials by the shameless minority Ethiopian regime after embarrassed by a series of revelation from a secret US Embassy cables released by the whistle blower website Wikileaks.
Yesterday, they issued a frantic ‘press statement’ with the usual denials and full of amature diplomatic languages concerning ‘two issues‘ raised on the Ethiopia Wikileaks files.
An Ethiopian rebel group, the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), wrote a protest letter to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, denying any involvement in the alleged bomb plot at an African Union Summit held in Addis Ababa earlier this year.
A UN Monitoring Group on Somalia and Eritrea (MGSE) report on July 28th accused the outlawed OLF of attempting to smuggle explosives into Addis Ababa to bomb the AU headquarters.
The Chairman of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), Daawud Ibsaa, accused the United Nations (UN) Monitoring Group on Somalia and Eritrea (MGSE) for its “flawed” methodology in its report associating OLF with a plot to bomb the African Union summit in Ethiopia.
