The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Eritrea, Sergei Lavrov and Osman Saleh, during talks here on Monday are to exchange views on key international and regional problems, Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced.

The sides are expected to discuss the situation at the “flashpoints” of the African continent, devoting special attention to the conflict situations in the Horn of Africa, in Southern Sudan, the Central African Republic, the Sahara-Sahel region, as well as in the Near and Middle East, in Syria and Afghanistan, in particular.  Continue reading Russia, Eritrea FMs to Exchange Views on Key Int’l and Regional Problems

Russia Invites Eritrean Foreign Minister

Eritrea Foreign Minister to visit Russia from 16-18 February

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Lukashevich today disclosed that his country have invited the Foreign Minister of Eritrea, Mr. Osman Saleh, for a two day visit from 16 – 18 February.

Eritrean Foreign Minister Urges General Assembly to Reform the UN

The United Nations is debilitated by chronic weaknesses and shortcomings and must be reformed, the Foreign Minister of Eritrea today said, urging also that sanctions against its country be lifted.

“The 21st century requires a revitalized United Nations that transcends a bipolar or uni-polar world order and that is firmly rooted in the supremacy of, and respect for, international law and order,” Minister of Foreign Affairs, Osman Saleh Mohammed told the 68th General Assembly high-level debate. The Eritrean Foreign Minister, in his recent letter addressed to the Chairperson of the African Union, strongly urged for the respect of the rules and procedures that govern the continental body.

President Yoweri Museveni has received a special message from the President of the State of Eritrea Mr. Issaias Afwerki.

The special message was delivered yesterday to President Museveni at State House, Entebbe by the Eritrean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Osman Saleh.
