After Eritrea’s foreign minister Osman Saleh Mohammed met Monday with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, his Permanent Representative to the UN Araya Desta gave Inner City Press a read-out of the meeting.
Ambassador Desta said that Somalia was discussed, with Eritrea explaining its view that in Somalia there can be no military solution and all sides have to be represented, with the solution coming from Somalis and not from the outside. The Minster of Information and Government spokesperson, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin has stated that Eritrea’s support to the struggle of the people of South Sudan includes paying a lot of human sacrifices. He mentioned this salient remark when he met the visiting Eritrean Foreign Minister, Mr. Osman Saleh, in his office, yesterday, in the capital Juba.
The Minister of Information and Government Spokesman for the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, has applauded the Eritrean business community in his country for the vast investment they have made and described it as exemplary in fostering the already existing excellent ties between the two people and governments.
Eritrea’s president Isaias Afwerki arrived in Juba, the capital city of the newly born nation of South Sudan, one day ahead, to participate in the official celebrations marking the declaration of the Republic of South Sudan due to take place on the 9th of July 2011.
