The Barentu – Shambiko segment of the strategic Barentu-Mendefera main road is undergoing renovation and expansion.
As part of the strategic Mendefera-Barentu Highway route, new Shambiko – Barentu road is being constructed.
Indicating that the Shambiko – Barentu road has been difficult for transportation, Mr. Teame Ande, coordinator of the road construction project, said that the road work is being carried out by the cooperation of Bidho General Construction Company and the Adi-Halo Project.

A 71.65 Km Melodoni-Manda-Bure road construction project that connects Ethiopia with Eritrea’s port of Asseb has officially commenced today.
The Ministry of Transport has launched the construction of Melodoni junction-Manda-Bure road project that links Ethiopia with Eritrea’s Assab port.
Minister of Transport, Dagmawit Moges, Chief Administrator of Afar regional state, Awel Arba, and other government officials launched the project today.
