Since time immemorial, there have been non-conformists and disruptors – they have made us look at the world through a new lens and progressed our evolution as a species. Captured as the David and Goliath myth. Today’s Goliath is a system where we continue to perpetuate policies which neither respect the planet, its ecosystem or its inhabitants. And a world where the disparity as between the “have” and the “have-nots” is widening and where to pacify the masses we have senseless media, consumption, and consumerism – entirely detrimental – as it is unsustainable to ours and the planet’s well being. AN ERITREAN delegation called upon the African Union (AU) to urge Ethiopia to abide by its treaty obligations and unconditionally withdraw from sovereign Eritrean territory, including the town of Badme.
THE U.S. security advisor, Susan Rice, has for months resisted appeals from key allies, including Britain and France, to push for a weapons bans on South Sudan, diplomats, human rights advocates and congressional officials told Foreign Policy (FP) magazine.
President Barack Obama’s national security team, US secretary of state, John Kerry and its ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power want an arms embargo imposed on South Sudan.
Both Power and Kerry have reportedly argued internally that South Sudan’s Salva Kiir has ignored Washington’s diplomatic appeals to halt the killings in the ongoing conflict, calling for more coercive measures, including an arms embargo on the young nation. H.E. Mr. Samuel Moncada the Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations is elected to Chair the United Nations Security Council’s Sanction Committee for Somalia and Eritrea.
Mr Mocada replaces South Korea’s Permanent Representative, Oh Joon, whose mandate ended on 31 December 2014. Mr Mocada’s mandate is for the period ending 31 December 2015. Concurrently Chad and Jordan were appointed as the two Vice-Chairs.
AS it was witnessed all over the world and on YouTube, Eric Garner, unarmed black man, was attacked in a broad daylight by a group of NYPD cops and was brought down to his death by an illegal chokehold just like a pack of hyenas would bring a big prey down for their dinner feast.
