Ethiopia: ONLF, OLF and Ginbot 7 Armed Groups Removed from Terror List

“The decision will encourage the armed groups to use peaceful political discourse to achieve political ends” – Gov’t Official.

Ethiopia’s Cabinet has submitted a resolution to Parliament for ratification that will rescind the designation of OLF, ONLF and Ginbot 7 as terrorist groups.

Ethiopia’s cabinet has passed a resolution to remove three armed groups from a terror list as part of sweeping reforms under a new prime minister. The groups, operating mainly from neighboring Eritrea, had opposed the government that ruled Ethiopia for close to three decades.
