It is another year and another session of the UN General Assembly. We meet in the same assembly hall and deliver our addresses from the same podium.

Eritrea Awaits the Resuscitation of the UN General Assembly

UNGA has to bear its deliberative role by bringing the unjust sanction, the illegitimate occupation of Eritrean sovereign territory and the insubordination of Ethiopia to the implementation of the 2002 “final and binding” court verdict.

President Kiir Feels Treated Like Schoolboy, Won’t Attend UNGA

“President Salva Kiir won’t attend the September 29 UN General Assembly because he feels like he is been treated like a schoolboy” – Information Minister Michael Makuei.

South Sudan’s president will snub a UN meeting aimed at boosting peace efforts because he feels he was summoned there like a “schoolboy”, a minister said Friday.

United Nation Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon invited President Salva Kiir and his arch-rival, rebel leader Riek Machar, to New York later this month in a bid to bolster their struggling peace accord.

Eritrean Foreign Minister Urges General Assembly to Reform the UN

The United Nations is debilitated by chronic weaknesses and shortcomings and must be reformed, the Foreign Minister of Eritrea today said, urging also that sanctions against its country be lifted.

“The 21st century requires a revitalized United Nations that transcends a bipolar or uni-polar world order and that is firmly rooted in the supremacy of, and respect for, international law and order,” Minister of Foreign Affairs, Osman Saleh Mohammed told the 68th General Assembly high-level debate. A High-level Eritrean delegation lead by Foreign Minister H.E. Osman Saleh is participating at UN general assembly high level Meeting on combating Human Trafficking in New York.

This year’s session was its Sixty Seventh for the General Assembly to discuss agenda item 103 (Crime Prevention  and Criminal Justice) on  the Appraisal  of the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking  in Persons.
