Eritrea’s capital Asmara, as the new UNESCO recognised World Heritage City, seeks more tourism from sister-city of Miami Beach

In 2017, Eritrean Americans in the USA have conducted several successful events. One of them was, The Asmara World Heritage Exhibition that opened up on September 27, 2017 at the Art Deco Museum in Miami Beach.

The Italian Architecture that Shaped New World Heritage Site – Asmara

Asmara is the first modernist city in the world to be listed in its entirety.

The newly listed Eritrean capital features outstanding examples of experimental building design from the early 20th century. Judges say, architecture from the colonial era left an “exceptional example” of modernism.

Standing as a startling collection of futuristic Italian architecture from the 1930s, perched on a desert mountaintop high above the Red Sea, the Eritrean capital of Asmara has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Announced as one of a series of new “inscriptions”, which are expected to include German caves with ice-age art and the English Lake District, Asmara is the first modernist city in the world to be listed in its entirety. Asmara: Decentering Modernist History

One of the world’s historic places, Asmara City, is well known for its well preserved buildings. Its various remarkable Art-Deco structures have made it a destination for many tourists around the world over the years.
