Eritrea Honors UNDP’s 50th Anniversary

UNDP Eritrea celebrate 50 years od development
50 Years of Development. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has marked its 50th anniversary of its establishment in Habero subzone, Anseba region. It’s programs in Eritrea focuses on environmental protection and capacity building.

The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) Eritrea, in partnership with Zoba Anseba, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the Ministry of Land, Water and Environment (MoLWE) organized an event to observe UNDP’s 50th Anniversary on 5th and 6th of May 2016, in the Anseba region of Eritrea.

The event highlighted partnerships for development and brought together Government officials, representatives from the diplomatic missions in Eritrea, media, representatives from the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS), Habero community and UN officials. Vocational Training to Enhance Employment Skills for Eritrean Youth

The youth employment skills project in Eritrea that was scaled-up form a pilot project (2007 to 2011) is now fully enhancing the capacity of various vocational training institutions and equip the youth with work skills.

The National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) is equipping the youth with vocational skills to help them engage in economic activities and access employment. The trainings are facilitated through the youth employment skills development project in all the six regions of Eritrea. Currently 198 trainees from Keren town and its environs in Anseba region, Eritrea, have benefited from training in graphics, videography, metalwork, woodwork, pottery and electricity installation.
