The 13th YPFDJ conference convened on Thursday 13 April 2017 after a full year of preparation and organisation to hold its 13th annual consecutive youth conference in the city of Veldhoven, in the Netherlands.
Eritrea is rich with legacies inherited from the long struggle for independence. One important legacy is the tradition of organizing. Under the umbrella of the struggle for Eritrean independence, for collective good, Eritreans have organized understanding the-role organized-bodies play in furthering their national agendas and causes. The Las Vegas chapter of YPFDJ North America organized what will surely be remembered as one of the most thought-provoking and inspiring YPFDJ conferences of the past 11 years.
The lineup of presenters and speakers was as diverse – in age, affiliation, opinion and experience – as the audience itself. The extended weekend quite literally flew by with participants visibly leaving the event even more determined to shine the light on Eritrea’s narrative than they were when they first arrived.
