Dr. TEWELDE Tesfamariam (Wedi Vacaro) who has been under intensive medical treatment in Italy has been reportedly passed away yesterday at the age of 65.
The burial ceremony would be held on Saturday October 25th at the San Michele Church in Busto Arsizio, Milano.
Known to many by his philanthropic efforts, the late Wedi Vacaro remained a controversial figure as of late.
Driven by his narrow regionalist agenda and personal hate against President Isaias, Wedi Vacaro started his self-proclaimed activism work by cleverly manipulating the emotional moment that was created among the diaspora Eritreans after the Lampedusa boat accident.
He has been touring European and North American cities tirelessly with a message of ‘Change’ and ‘democracy’ though he has been accused of tainting his message with his narrow regionalist (Awraja) agenda.
His March 2014 Rotterdam Seminar, however, was his last and the most embarrassing one.
He was on record when he said he is planning to kill President Isaias in two months’ time with the help of Italian mafia group.
The remark angered many of the diaspora Eritrean community and was quickly denounced.
Hugely embarrassed, the late Wedi Vacaro later tried to put off the public anger by saying the remarks were taken out of context.
After that, he disappeared from public view once and for all.
May his soul rest in peace.
We would like to extend our condolences to all his families and friends.
